Porkie Revisited

I finally got my pictures for my sister's hog roast downloaded. The meat was delicious.

Golden Mountain Of Grain

Down a little ways from where we live is a gain elevator. After filling all of the silos to the brim, they were still left with this golden mountain of grain. It seemed like most of the farmers around here planted corn this year. With the ethanol plant, I suppose it only makes good fiscal sense.

Sam's Photography

Sam was bored with my camera the other night at my sister's house. She captured this strange cloud set.

My Weekend

My weekend was busy. We went to my nephews' football game. Alex and Parker played each other. It is nice to get a 2 for 1. Parker won but it was a very close match. I wish I saw more of them but life is always so busy!

Friday Again

It is the early out Friday again. The kids get out right after lunch one Friday a month. We have a costume party we have been invited to on Sat. but I am not sure we will go. I am looking forward to the football match between my nephews on Sat. afternoon though. I think the job interview went well. I hope anyway. We will have to wait and see.

Just Waiting for Tomorrow

Tomorrow I go for a job interview with a company I would actually like to work for. I like the principles on which they stand anyway. I hope I actually get it. We will see. If it is meant for me, I will get it. Wish me luck!

Shopping Extravaganza

My sister, mom and niece all went shopping at an outlet mall in Michigan City, IN yesterday. Boy did I find some good bargains - winter clothes school shopping and Christmas shopping all rolled into one. Everyone was nice and everything went smoothly. Sometimes you just never know!

I just wish that more things in my life were consequence free! Who doesn't I know but the walking about did me in! For those of you who do not know, I have been a victim of medical malpractice by a orthopedist - Dr. Jeffrey Traina. I have had 7 leg surgeries and don't walk so well. This makes fun events like a shopping extravaganza have a cloud of agony over them. Any of you who know what I am talking about, send me a message!

It Always Works Out That Way

If you read my earlier posts, you will know I rushed out of the house today for an impromptu doctor's office visit for Andi. They said come now so I hurried out of the house, no makeup... hair not done. After the appt. we go into town to get the meds and groceries. She goes to Granny's and I go to SuperWalmart. I never see anyone I know but low and behold today I see Andy, I guy I used to go to school with. We chat and I hurriedly put my groceries in the car and am on my way to get Andi. While it is always nice to see an old, friendly face, it would be nice if for just once I could look nice when it happens! It seems like it always works out that way.

Interesting Article

For all of you ladies out there, I read an interesting article today which stated:

The HPV test, which looks for the virus that causes cervical cancer, correctly spotted 95 percent of the cancers. The Pap test, which checks for abnormal cells under a microscope, only found 55 percent, according to researchers at McGill University in Montreal, who published their findings in Thursday's New England Journal of Medicine. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071018/ap_on_he_me/pap_tests_2;_ylt=Alj7fjU1a2gIbzhYmxHOg5cE1vAI

Back To The Dr. Again

We went back to the doctor again. They really are not sure what is going on with my tempermental little Andi. The first Dr. said to give a few more days and if she was still sick, he would test for mono. Today's Dr. said he thought it was strep, even though she doesn't have a sore throat or anything. So, kid's Z-pack it is and go back on Mon. She is mad because she will not get to go to the birthday party or the hog roast and she has to go stay at Granny's instead.

Today is such a gloomy day. It was only 54 deg. at 3 p.m. today.

Another Day Home With Andi

We are on day number #9 of Andi staying home from school with her fever. This has definitely interrupted my usual work week. What can you do though. We were told that our presence was required at a dinner tonight being held by Craig's grandma. The doctor told me that Andi probably isn't still contagious so I guess we are going. This is going to be a busy weekend between school functions, birthday parties and the hog roast my sister is having. Then, I get to go outlet mall shopping with my sister, my mom and my niece on Monday. Busy....Busy! It seems like it always feast or famine. :)

I found an interesting article today about the benefits of swearing! http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20071017/wl_uk_afp/britainemploymentlanguageoffbeat_071017125814;_ylt=An0hJUS0xU461ThmDWE7TzwE1vAI

IC Network

I visited the http://www.ic-network.com. If you have IC you should definately go to this site. I found the following book to be a great help: A Taste of the Good Life: A Cookbook for an Interstitial Cystitis Diet, by Beverly Laumann.
Amazon/Borders sells it online.

I have found that it is hard to pick an adequate diet between the PCOS and the IC. The IC lends itself to more carbs where with the PCOS you want to avoid most carbs. If any of you have found a good balance, let me know.

Been Busy

I have been busy lately but I am going to try to be diligent in my efforts to blog regularly. I am surprised to learn my sister just started a blog on blog.com. I will find it interesting reading to be sure. My youngest daughter has been home sick from school for a week now so that has obviously taken up a lot of my time. Sometimes I wish I could just either make the day a little longer or have more energy in the time I do have. I have been reading a blog from a friend of mine and it is so poetic and literary. I don't know if I have that sort of writing style in me but it would be nice.

P.S. The picture is one I took in Yellowstone last summer. Wish I was there now.

IC

I have Interstitial Cystitis. For those of you who do not know, this is a crazy bladder problem. Whenever you eat anything that has any type of acid or preservatives or B vitamins or a thousand other things, your bladder cries out in agony. For some reason, the lining of the bladder has been destroyed and the food you eat only makes the problem worse.

I have had medical problems before but this is really difficult. Think of all of your favorite foods being banished from your life forever! For some, this may seem difficult but not all that difficult but for me it is a change in lifestyle. I have always enjoyed cooking and eating a vast number of items. Now whenever we have dinner parties or family dinners, I get to eat oatmeal or just meat with nothing on it but salt instead of all of things I have prepared for others. There is no more fast food. I am on an elimination diet where you only pick a few items from the impossibly small list of items that are deemed ok by the IC specialists. You eat just these few foods for months to get your rebellious bladder under control. Then you start adding things one by one.

There are three things I miss the most. Chocolate, Coffee and Ketchup. If you have IC, please leave me a comment on how you are getting through it and if you have any suggestions. Thanks for listening.
